After speaking with this pastor, he (the pastor) was
compelled of God to leave the room furnished with everything we needed to
begin our church. On March 31, 1985 we moved into the schoolroom.
The Lord blessed us tremendously; many souls came in and received the Holy
Ghost. The only item we did not have was a baptism pool.
Suffragan Bishop Farris allowed us to use Zion's baptismal pool any time the
need arose.

The First people District Elder Townsend
baptized were Willie Lucy and Frankie Townsend. They were also the
first two that received the Holy Ghost. They were the first two
District Elder Townsend married and were the first two ushers in
the church.
Pastor Townsend continued to preach and teach the
word of God. He preached to the beginning seven members as if
there was a church full of people. There were three other churches
in the school, some of their members would stand outside our door and
listen to our anointed services. We stayed in the schoolroom 2 1/2
years until it was completely full. We had to find another
building.
He wanted us to believe the Lord was going to bless
us with a building to worship in. The next week, someone told
District Elder Townsend about a pastor who was moving out of a
schoolroom located at 34th and Emerson.
